CHÂTEAU
DU GRAND BARRAIL
This very
old estate has a unique combination of soils and exposure to the
sun. Lying on the southern flank of the hills of Bordeaux overlooking
the Gironde estuary, the Chateau produces red wines that are fruity
and supple with spicy notes throughout. Made from Sauvignon and
Semillon grapes, the white wines are aromatic, with flowery scents
while young; their power and finesse are fully expressed when
barrel aged. Winemaker Denis LaFon comes from a long line of winegrowers
in the Prèmier Côtes de Blaye area. He uses traditional
know-how to make the limestone clay soils produce some of the
best wines in this appellation.
