TRIBOULET
Saint Veran
This appellation
was created in 1971 and represents about one-tenth of the vineyards
of Maçon. It is produced in six communes of about 500 hectares
located on hillsides that are fortunately exposed South-Southeast
and Southwest. Domaine du Val Lamartinen is located in Prissé
in the south of Burgundy in the heart of the Maçon area,
7km (about 5 miles) west of Maçon.
Today the
vineyards and cellars are owned and operated by Alain and Hubert
Triboulet, the fourth generation of this family owned business
which began in 1932. They have 18 hectares of vines (44½
acres); 15 of these hectares (37 acres) are Saint-Véran.
Saint-Véran
characterizes itself in its youth with its fine delicate aromas
that are both elegant and floral. When young it is much sought
after for its white fruit aromas such as peach and pear which
gradually evolve between acacia flowers and honeysuckle and draw
near to filberts and toasted almonds as it gets older. Its many
traits express the sumptuousness of the terroir.
Saint-Véran goes well with the simplest menu as well as
more elaborate dishes such as white meats, chicken in cream sauces,
fish, and goat cheese; also pairs well with desserts such as fruit
tarts and puddings. This wine can be consumed young but can also
be aged from 5-10 years, depending on the vintage. Serve chilled.
