DOMAINE
VIRELY-ROUGET
At the beginning of the century Louis Virely came to Pommard and
took over the Domaine of his in-laws, having come from an old
family of winemakers himself. In 1926 he bought the parcel of
Pommard 1er Cru “Clos des Arvelets”. In 1951, his
son Bernard took over part of the Domaine and married a woman
from Meursault, who brought with her the appellation “Les
Charmes”. Together they bought and replanted “Les
Clos de l’Ermitage” in Beaune as well as diverse parcels
in the village of Pommard, and the Domaine Virely-Rouget was born.
Today, their son Patrick continues the family tradition. With
3 acres of “Clos des Arvelets”, Virely-Rouget is the
biggest owner of the appellation 1er Cru Arvelets.
