| CANTINA DI SOAVE
Cantina di Soave was founded in 1898 by an independent group of winegrowers whose vineyards are located on the hillside leading to the Lessinia Mountain range, near the ancient hamlet of Soave, a gentle and sun-blessed landscape where vines have been yielding their fruit for thousands of years.
Cantina di Soave, the first top level co-operative winery in the Veneto area, began with 115 original members who each year pledged to give their grape production to the Society. In turn, the Society provided the vinification of the grapes and the sale of the wine with successive sharing of the proceeds, deducted costs, and charges. Over a century later Cantina di Soave is the biggest, high quality wine cooperative in Italy, with a membership that has grown to 1700 dedicated winegrowers, a collective 4200 hectars of vineyards, 70% in the DOC and DOCG zones, producing about 50% of the total Soave Classico, 34% of the total production of Soave DOC and almost 50% of the total production of the Valpolicella DOC. The wine growers cultivate their vines with special focus on the varietals typical of the Veronese tradition, knowing that each of them is the custodian of the land seen as past heritage and future resource.
